Human Size Autonomous Robot

Our goal is to build an human size bipedal robot capable of interacting with people and objects.

Human Size Autonomous Robot
Mioplanet Lab - Research & Development

Today, our robot can move but is not completed.

The size of the robot (1m30) makes it possible to interact with the environment.
It's weight makes it possible to use inertia for the movements.
The total price of the parts is surprising low for a robot of this size.

The robot's brain is a full PC running Windows Vista and MioEngine.

The robot with MioScript embedded is perfect to explore various algorithms, such as movements and balance based on inertia.

Mechanics

Standard aluminium parts
24 motors VTECH 40kg/cm2

Embedded PC

Nano ITX Motherboard + Dual-Core CPU
2GB RAM
32 GB Solid State disk for software and short term memory
500 GB disk drive for long-term memory
Windows Vista Premium
USB to RS232
Wifi / Bluetooth
MioEngine and MioScript code to read sensors and move motors
Windows Vista Premium

Sensors and electronics

1 Hi-Res WebCam with video streaming server
1 Infrared camera
2 Microphones
1 Temperature sensor
1 Light sensor
1 Gyroscope
1 GPS
5 distance sensor (foots, hands, head)
Various sensors for battery pack
4 Basic24 processor to read sensors

Autonomy

A wire is still required for the power. With the technology currently available, we do not expect more than 2 hours of autonomy.
